Nodes

Nodes are where leaf branches grow on the bamboo stalk. The have a ridge developed on the outside enamel of the cane and the strip is usually not straight at the node area.

Node preparation makes for a stronger, more durable rod. You can tell if the nodes have just been cut off as powerfibers are cut off and are visible att the node on the finished rod.

1 Flatten
Heat is applied the node area with a heat gun to soften the cane. After it is sufficiently heated the strip is firmly clamped in a vise with a v at the node ridge to flatten the node area.











2 Straighten with heat and pressure - Heat the curved areas with a heat gun to soften the cane. After it is sufficiently heated the strip is firmly clamped in a flat vise without teeth . This is slow steady work . You are trying to heat all the cane at an area not burn it.













3 File off node rise- removing only the lip so as not to damage any power fibers
